Your learning.
Your device.
Math Lens 1.1.2 processes lesson context on your device to show relevant math references. The extension does not send that context to us, an AI provider, or any other server.
What the extension processes
When you open Math Lens on DeltaMath, or on a Khan Academy math page, it reads the current page’s title and URL without query strings or fragments, visible lesson headings and problem text, rendered mathematical expressions, and selected lesson metadata. It uses this information only to recommend graphs, formulas, and vocabulary.
On other HTTP or HTTPS web pages, highlight text and choose “Look up with Math Lens” from Chrome’s context menu. The selection searches Vocabulary or Formulas without changing the lesson topic or graph. Only that selected text is used on other sites, up to 2,000 characters. The surrounding page is not read and its URL is not retained for this feature. Selections in editable fields are ignored.
Math Lens also handles the search terms, practice graph values, and plotted points you enter into its own side panel. These remain in the panel’s memory for the current session.
The reader excludes answer controls and editable fields, filters sensitive metadata fields, and removes email addresses and long token-like strings from extracted text. If a name or other personal detail appears in ordinary lesson text or a page title, it may be processed incidentally on your device. It is not used to identify you or create a profile.
What stays on your device
The extension has no analytics, advertising, remote AI calls, external reporting service, or Math Lens account. It does not transmit lesson content, page URLs, searches, practice values, or usage records. It does not read authentication cookies or browser history records. It processes the current supported page’s context, not a saved browsing history.
All executable extension code and reference content are included in the extension package. The extension does not download or execute remote code.
Retention and deletion
Version 1.1.2 does not write lesson content, searches, or graph input to persistent extension storage. Current references and practice controls are held in memory while the panel is running. Reloading or closing the panel discards that panel session. Selected text awaiting delivery stays in temporary background memory for up to one minute, or until delivery, navigation, tab closure, or background-worker shutdown. After delivery it stays only in the Vocabulary or Formulas search in panel memory until you clear or edit the search, switch tools or browser tabs, navigate, or close the panel. Reset clears the practice graph. Disabling or removing the extension stops its page access; reload existing supported tabs to clear any already attached reader. Chrome’s extension settings control site access.
Permissions and purpose
- DeltaMath site access: read lesson context on deltamath.com and its subdomains, only for the reference feature.
- Khan Academy site access: read visible math lesson content on www.khanacademy.org and khanacademy.org by default. The reader runs only on /math/ pages and skips embedded application JSON.
- Context menus: add the highlighted-text lookup action, which runs only when you choose it.
- Scripting: collect context from supported page frames and attach the reader to a tab that was already open when the extension was installed or reloaded.
- Side panel: display the Math Lens workspace beside the lesson.
Sharing and limited use
We do not receive, sell, or share the data the extension processes. We do not use or transfer it for advertising, credit decisions, or purposes unrelated to the math-reference feature. Math Lens’s use of information received through Chrome APIs follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Students and school devices
Math Lens does not create student profiles or track grades, progress, or individual usage. A school can control whether the extension is allowed on managed devices. This policy describes Math Lens; it does not change the separate policies of your school, DeltaMath, Khan Academy, Google Chrome, or the Chrome Web Store.
This website
This information website is separate from the extension. The hosting service (Vercel) processes normal web requests, which can include an IP address, browser information, and the requested URL, to deliver and protect the site. We have not added analytics, advertising trackers, or a data-collection form. Extension lesson context is never sent to this website.
Questions and updates
See Support & setup for help. Once the Chrome Web Store listing is available, its developer contact email is the contact for privacy questions. If you contact the developer, the information you voluntarily provide is used to respond to your request. Avoid including student information or private coursework.
We will update this page if the extension’s data practices change. The date above identifies the current policy.
